STAFF at a ‘kind, supportive and friendly’ primary school where pupil arrive ‘with a spring in their step’ are celebrating after a ‘Good’ rating from Ofsted.
The school standards watchdog published a report on Monday, November 14, after an inspection of Middlewich Primary School on September 21 and 22.
The school received a ‘Good’ rating in five of the six categories, with inspectors drawing special attention to the children’s behaviour and attitude, where they awarded an ‘Outstanding.’
In its first inspection since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, inspectors praised the high expectations all staff have of pupil’s behaviour and achievement, noting that these expectations permeate throughout the entire school.
Headteacher Sandi La Porta said: “At Middlewich Primary School, we are very pleased with such a positive and complimentary Ofsted report.
“It is particularly good to see the outstanding behaviour of our children has been recognised.
“The inspectors also noted the children’s excellent manners and exceptional attitudes to learning.
“Middlewich Primary is a great school to go to and work at. The breadth and ambition of our curriculum, and the many wide ranging opportunities the school offers were seen by the inspectors who were highly impressed.
“As headteacher, I would like to thank all the parents, carers, children, staff and governors who make this such a fabulous school."
In his report, Ofsted lead inspector, Stuart Perkins, said: “The school is an exceptionally calm and purposeful environment in which all pupils can learn.
“Pupils are extremely keen learners. They display high levels of concentration, focusing on the tasks that they have been set.
“Pupils said that their lessons are hardly ever disrupted. Inspectors concurred with this view.
“Children in the early years also quickly adopt the high expectations set out by teachers. They embrace school routines. This helps children in the early years to settle into school swiftly each day.”
“There is a strong culture of safeguarding at Middlewich Primary School. Leaders take care to identify any pupils who need additional help quickly and effectively.
“They work well with external agencies to make sure that pupils receive the timely support that they need.”
