NORTHWICH Library’s first craft and storytelling session went off with a bang at Barons Quay last week, with a rocket themed event for Bonfire Night.
The free event, which took place on Wednesday, November 3, at Costa Coffee, inside Odeon, was attended by various local families with children aged between nought and four.
The youngsters enjoyed a space-themed story, told by the library staff and then created their own rockets.
It was the first in a series of sessions that will take place on the first Wednesday of every month, 11am - 12pm and will feature a different theme each time.
Parents and carers wishing to attend can simply turn up on the day, there’s no need to book.
The monthly events are part of the Barons Quay Kids Club, which launched earlier this year to provide free events for local families and pre-school children.
Events to date include dancing, music, drama, crafts and water safety with Puddle Ducks.
The next library event will be held on Wednesday, December 7, at the same location and will include a festive story and Christmas crafts.
Caroline Dunseath, locality librarian for the Northwich and Winsford area, said: “While we await our new temporary home for Northwich Library it's brilliant to be able to come to Barons Quay and engage with young people at these events.
“The aim is to promote books from a young age and encourage parents and children to read together now and in the future.
“Our friendly team brings the stories to life with a craft activity that ties into the book and makes it more accessible for little ones.
“We look forward to meeting more local families in the next few months.”
Lina Higuita, centre manager at Barons Quay said: “Well done to Northwich Library for kicking off their storytelling sessions with a brilliant first event.
“We’ve had great feedback from parents and I’m glad that we are able to host this monthly activity with the help of Odeon and Costa.”

Northwich Library will be temporarily relocating to Weaver Hall Museum in the near future while renovations take place on the library building.
