A 30-YEAR-OLD man has been banned from the roads for four years after drug driving in Northwich twice in the space of a month.
Jalees Littlewood – formally of Manchester Road in Northwich but now of Ralph Avenue, Hyde – appeared in Warrington Magistrates’ Court on November 8 after pleading guilty to four counts of drug driving.
On June 30, Littlewood was caught driving a BMW on Middlewich Road in Northwich with cannabis component Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in his system – no less than 2.3 micrograms per litre of blood, just over the specified limit.
Littlewood also had no less than 164 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine (BZE) – a breakdown product of cocaine – per litre of his blood. This more than three times the 50-microgram limit.
Just under a month later, on July 27, he was caught drug driving again along Tabley Hill Lane in Tabely.
Littlewood had the same amount of THC in his system but the amount of BZE registered at 265 micrograms per litre – more than five times over the limit.
The court heard he pleaded guilty to all offences and has previous convictions for drug driving and careless driving in 2018.
Magistrates were told the defendant had moved addresses, so he never received a letter following the first offence.
Littlewood was then in custody at Middlewich Custody Suite for three full days waiting for his court appearance due to delays.
The court also heard he does not accept he was driving badly at the time of the incidents.
Taking his guilty plea into account, magistrates sentenced Littlewood to an 18-month community order, consisting of 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 100 hours of unpaid work.
He is disqualified from driving for four years and must pay costs of £120 and a £114 surcharge.
