A MAN has been arrested after leading police on a 12-mile chase through Rudheath and Middlewich before finally being stopped by a stinger in Crewe.
Officers had been attempting to stop a white Ford Transit van on the A556 in Rudheath on Sunday (October 16), when the driver took off from the scene.
A large police presence was spotted tracking the van as it travelled along the A530 King Street towards Middlewich and then on to Crewe.
The car was eventually stopped after officers deployed a stinger.
A spokesperson for Cheshire Police confirmed: “At around 11.50pm on Sunday, October 16, police attempted to stop a white Ford Transit van on the A556, Rudheath.
“The driver of the van failed to stop, and the vehicle made off at speed onto the A530, King Street, travelling towards Middlewich.
“Officers followed the van as it travelled along the A530 around Crewe.
“The vehicle was subsequently brought to a stop on Waldrons Lane, Crewe, after officers deployed a stinger.
“The driver of the van, a 33-year-old man from Crewe, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of dangerous driving and failing to stop.”
