A MOBILE flu vaccination clinic offering flu jabs without an appointment has arrived in Northwich.
Organised by the UKs biggest independent pharmacy chain Well Pharmacy, the ‘flu bus’ is a fully functioning mobile health clinic, in which two pharmacists will be available on site to administer 200 jabs per day.
It's available until the end of Wednesday, October 12.
It will also be offering other routine healthcare services, such as blood pressure checks.
For those who normally receive their flu jab for free on the NHS, there will be no charge.
For those who are not eligible for a free flu jab, there will be a charge of £15.
The flu bus will be operating from Waitrose car park, London Road, on Monday, October 10, Tuesday, October 11, and Wednesday, October 12 between 9am and 5pm.
Ifti Khan, pharmacy superintendent from Well Pharmacy, said: “We are seeing a high demand for our flu vaccination service.
“The very high level of flu cases in Australia, and the surge in Covid-19 is a good indicator on what the UK can expect, and I would urge everyone who can to protect themselves and others by getting vaccinated.”
Services like the flu bus follow on from the biggest NHS flu programme roll out in history in 2021.
Last year, more than four in five (83.20 per cent) of people aged 65 and over in England received their flu vaccine.
Flu infections have been unusually low in recent winters due to the extra precautions people have taken, such as handwashing and social distancing, to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
However, the UK Health Security Agency has warned levels of natural immunity to flu could be low this year due to the relatively low infection rates last year and the year before.
The World Health Organization recommends annual vaccination for pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy, children aged between six months to five years, those aged over 65, people with chronic medical conditions, and healthcare workers.
