THOUSANDS of Middlewich homes are set to get gigafast broadband following an £5.5m investment.
Full fibre network operator Zzoomm is rolling out its 'future-ready' network to around 6,500 homes in one of the 'largest civil infrastructure projects' seen in the town.
Construction of the network began in 2022 with the first homes and business expected to be connected later this autumn.
Once up and running, Middewich will join Zzoomm's growing list of towns on its network which include Northwich, Crewe, Nantwich, Congleton and Sandbach.
Matthew Hare, chief executive at Zzoomm said: “It’s fantastic to be continuing our expansion across Cheshire, ensuring homes and businesses in Middlewich join nearby towns in receiving future ready broadband.
"Our latest investment will give residents unmatched speeds that is not reliant on the slow, unreliable copper used by traditional broadband providers in the area.
"Get ready for fabulous full fibre, Middlewich."
Zzoomm’s infrastructure division boasts a 350-strong in-house civils team which runs five regional hubs.
The firm also has two 'best-in-class' training centres which allows it to recruit from local communities, develop local talent and support its delivery of full fibre broadband.
