THE family of a young man who tragically died in off-road buggy accident aged just 18 have paid tribute to him.
William Glendinning sustained serious injuries in the collision, which saw the buggy overturn last Friday, September 23.
Emergency services were called to farmland off St James Way, by Moor Hall Farm in Bishop’s Stortford, Hertfordshire, at around 5.15pm.
However, the former Winnington Park Rugby Club player sadly died at the scene.
Paying tribute to William, his family said: “William was a much-loved son and brother who was studying at Uppingham School where he was passionate about rugby, theatre and piano.
“He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.”
PC Dale Morris, from Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Road Policing Unit, added: “Our thoughts are with William’s family at this difficult time and our investigations are ongoing.”
A touching tribute has also been issued by Winnington Park Rugby Club, which says it is with ‘great sadness’ that it shares the news.
“Will represented Winnington throughout our junior section and would have been part of the current Colts side, but for moving to Uppingham School in 2021,” the club said.
“An extremely talented young man, Will excelled at rugby, was a gifted pianist and a keen actor.
“A genuinely happy and charismatic person, he was a pleasure to be around and will be sorely missed by the many that knew and loved him.
“On behalf of everyone at Winnington Park, we offer our deepest condolences to the Glendinning family.
“While there are no words that can help numb the pain you are feeling, we hope you can take some comfort in knowing that this club, this community, this family, are here to support you through the tough times ahead.”
The club says it will be observing a minute silence before each game this weekend in memory of Will.
