A WINCHAM artist needs to find a new home for his artwork or he risks facing the wrath of his wife.
Eighty-year-old Bill Martin has been sketching for most of his life, meaning his home in Hewitt Grove is something of a gallery.
Having exhibited his work at the Salt Museum in Northwich and at Arley Hall, his house is not usually cluttered. But at present the former Royal Marine has nowhere to display his pieces and his wife Sheila, 77, is forgetting how her walls actually look.
Bill joked: "Sheila would certainly like to see the walls now and again.
"It's becoming like a gallery in my front room. But I've got nowhere to go at the moment.
"I still work full-time and am loving it but it seems a shame to not keep my pictures on show if I can.
"If anyone has got any ideas, I'd love to hear from them. I'm completely open to suggestions about where to display my work."
Bill has just completed a set of 47 pencil drawings of scenes from around Northwich, including many of the town's churches and the Anderton Boat Lift. The 30inch by 20inch sketches are all framed and glazed but are languishing unloved without an audience.
He recently spent months visiting churches around the county, including Great Budworth, to produce a series of 22 sketches of Cheshire churches which was displayed at High Legh Garden Centre.
He added: "Drawing is what I do. If I have been a bit slack at anytime, I'll go out and sketch but I really would like people to be able to enjoy my work."
