Toffees star says Talk ... Don't Walk
EVERTON footballer Nuno Valente has turned his attention to helping teenage runaways by offering his support to the Relationships Centre's Talk... Don't Walk programme.
"We need to educate children and young people, so that they understand the dangers of running away and are aware that running away is not always the safest way out," he said.
Talk... Don't Walk works with young people to show them that leaving home is rarely the best decision.
The next move by the charity is to issue teaching packs to school-age children to help them understand and deal with their problems.
Teachers are also being taught how to help pupils who are experiencing problems at home.

Greenalls site needs a housebuilder
By Gareth Dunning
THE hunt is on to find a company that will transform the site of the former G&J Greenall distillery into a new home development.
The land on Loushers Lane was granted outline planning permission to build 195 homes and a 60-bed secure accommodation development for the elderly by Warrington Borough Council last month.
And now the company has enlisted property agent Knight Frank to find a housebuilder to take up the scheme.
Michael Bibring, a director of G&J Greenall said: "We are delighted to have obtained planning approval which will see this brownfield site, much of which has unfortunately lain vacant since the fire in October 2005, developed to provide much needed family homes for the town."
The scheme is on a 12.65 acre site and will include 178 family homes being built along with a retirement development and the refurbishment of 17 grade II listed family homes on China Lane. Also included are six semi-detatched properties opposite the main site of Loushers Lane.
John Broadbent, a partner at Knight Frank, said: "Development opportunities on this scale do not come around very often."
