RESIDENTS have collection 658 signatures on a petition - protesting againt the proposed closure of Cuddington Post Office.
They are now awaiting a decision on its future after posting them off to the consultation team last week.
Borough Clr Val Godfrey said: "We now have to wait and see whether the Post Office take any notice of the objections we've raised.
"Many residents wrote to the PO themselves and Oakmere and Cuddington Parish Council's sent letters of objection as well which was really heartening."
She added: "It was evident that many residents of the surrounding villages feel short changed by the proposed closure.
"They've seen their own post office closed, become loyal customers at Norley Road.
"And they now see that threatened with closure as well - they are asking what next?"
Resident Chris Watkin added: "The idea that this service can be replaced by the one at Sandiway does not take account of the fact that the Sandiway Post Office is much smaller and this will inevitably lead to people having to queue outside in inclement weather.
"It is not a very good prospect for older members of our community who have had to struggle for some distance, and up steep hills.
" It is also too far for many of them to contemplate walking to."
