RUDHEATH parish council has set plans into motion to reinvigorate Gadbrook Road playing field.
The field is in a poor state due to vandalism and neglect and so the council has installed two new CCTV cameras at a cost of £7,000 as the first step in its regeneration.
Chairman Clr Tony Lawrenson said: "It is hoped the cameras will keep down anti-social behaviour on the field and improve security for the houses backing on to the field.
"This way, we can check on the field and take action if necessary." The next stage of the project is for play equipment to be added and it is anticipated that work will begin by early summer once the cameras have made an impact.
A quotation has already been agreed for the new play equipment at February's parish council meeting.
At the meeting, the councillors also acknowledged that some of the work should have already begun but the field is currently too waterlogged.
Clr Pam Battisson added: "We want to enhance Gadbrook Road playing field as a community asset and want to resolve any issues that people have.
"Our main objective is for members of the public to be able to approach us."
