CHILDREN have given strong views on what they want to see in their village in the future.
A big wheel and swimming pool might be rather unusual ideas but a large number of pupils questioned at Barnton Primary School want more litter bins and better lighting in certain areas.
The pupils have taken part in a village survey which has been sent out to all residents to form a vision of Barnton in the future.
The school organised a huge project connected to the curriculum and every child took part at various levels.
Once all the ideas had been pooled together the children presented a huge scrapbook to five members of the parish plan group.
Deputy head Jodie Layton said: "We were approached by the group and asked to participate.
"All the children took part in one way or another.
"Some were given the opportunity to write about the village, what don't they like, what they do like and how it can be improved in the future.
"We put all the work together into a scrapbook and presented it to the group."
Parish Clr Frank Casey, who is also a member of the parish plan group, said the committee was delighted.
He said: "We were overwhelmed.
"The group thought it was wonderful.
"The children had wonderful ideas.
"The writing and the way it was presented was excellent."
The parish plan group is hoping the library will present the children's work.
