PC PAUL Welsh who has served Cuddington and Sandiway as village bobby is retiring from the police force in March after 30 years of service.
PC Welsh, who is currently on annual leave, is to become a college lecturer, tutoring young people who wish to join the emergency services or the armed forces.
He has been covering the villages for the past two years.
Cuddington parish chairman Clr Pat Chrimes, speaking at the latest parish council meeting, said: "Although we are losing him, Adam Norton our police community support officer will still be around.
"Police are now looking at replacing PC Welsh, so fingers crossed."
Parish Clr Val Godfrey said: "We should write formally to Paul and his superior officer, saying how much we have appreciated his work in the village and how we have appreciated him attending parish council meetings, even when he was on leave."
