STUDENTS, staff and parents at The County High School Leftwich are celebrating after receiving excellent GCSE grades.
Completing their GCSE years during the Covid pandemic brought unprecedented challenges for students, with much disruption and home working.
But the pupils at The County High School, rated Outstanding at its latest Ofsted inspection, rose to the occasion admirably and have today been rewarded with some outstading results.
More than 80 per cent of the school's students achieved grade 4 (old grade C) and above in English and maths, while 35 per cent of all student grades were grade 7 (old grade A) or better.
Ten per cent of all grades awarded were grade 9 (old grade A*).
Delighted headteacher Richard Warburton said: "Today was a lovely day of celebration for our students which reflects what they have achieved over the last five years at The County High School Leftwich.
"The aspiration, resilience and drive of these students has been clear throughout their time with us.
"Students are well placed to move on to their chosen destinations and we are very proud of every single person and the progress they have made.
"Thank you to all staff, parents and carers who supported students throughout this journey. We look forward to seeing them continue to thrive and flourish."
Alison Massey, chair of governors, said: "I am so pleased for the students to be awarded these terrific results.
"We all wish them the best as they move onto the next exciting phase of their lives.
"I’d like to thank the senior leadership team, teachers and the wider team for their care, commitment and pride in preparing these students for future success."
Matthew Snelson, CEO of the Sir John Brunner Foundation, said: "A huge congratulations to The County High School Leftwich students.
"I look forward to seeing the students continue to achieve excellence wherever their next steps take them.
"Well done to the talented, caring and compassionate County High School Leftwich colleagues, supportive parents and carers but most of all to the focused, dedicated and hard-working students."
