PUPILS, staff, parents and governors at Cloughwood Academy have been celebrating GCSE results day.
The overwhelming majority of pupils have achieved GCSE grades (or equivalent) in English, maths, biology, computer science, PE, art and design, and public services.
A significant number achieved grades of four to six.
Head of upper school, Sam Howarth said: “We are incredibly proud of the boys’ achievements.
“In the face of significant obstacles, they came through.
“These pupils have attended Cloughwood, an SEN school in Hartford, for enough years to have enabled our setting to develop them and prepare them for working towards and sitting nationally recognised examinations.
“We have focused on exam preparation through entry level and functional skills examinations earlier on in their school careers.
“We see our pupils moving mountains every day and it is great that their hard work and effort has been rewarded in this way.
“Our pupils can look forward, now, to a year 11 ‘futures experience’ that will prepare them for the next steps in their lives – whether it’s on to the world of work or further study.”
The Kaleidoscope Learning Trust is extremely proud of the achievements of its pupils at Cloughwood Academy.
A spokesperson said: “It is a wonderful school with a dedicated, hardworking staff team who enable all its pupils to be the best they can be, and this is reflected in these excellent exam outcomes today.
“It is a key aim of the trust to ensure that our pupils get the very best opportunities to find academic or vocational pathways into the world of work and these talented Cloughwood pupils now have a real chance to successfully navigate the next phase of their education by attending the new sixth form provision at Cloughwood or other colleges and work placements.
“Well done to everyone.”
