WITTON Albion will head into FA Cup action this weekend still seeking their first win of the new season.
The new-look Witton, rebuilt under manager Jon Macken since he replaced Carl Macauley at the end of last season, host Tindale in the preliminary round at the U Lock It Stadium on Saturday, kick-off 3pm.
They head into Macken’s maiden cup tie as Albion boss on the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Glossop North End in Northern Premier League West on Tuesday night.
Witton looked to be heading to their second draw of the new season’s opening week but Keaton Mulvey netted an 83rd-minute winner for Glossop.
Albion therefore paid a price for Joe Duckworth missing a penalty after he got up from being brought down on the edge of the area.
Earlier in the day Witton confirmed they had signed one of their former defenders Ben Harrison, who was on the bench against Glossop.
The deal is a short-term loan as Harrison, who left Witton in 2015, continues his recovery from a hernia operation that he had last season.
Albion will return to league action at Bootle on Tuesday as long as neither side is involved in an FA Cup replay.
The U Lock It Stadium will also host FA Cup action on Friday night.
Tenants Northwich Victoria will entertain West Didsbury & Chorlton, kick-off 7.45pm.
Vics, who progressed to this stage thanks to a 2-1 success at Squires Gate on August 6, drew 1-1 at neighbours Winsford United on Monday night.
Ryan Jackson’s 59th-minute strike earned Vics their point after Daniel Boden put Blues ahead from the penalty spot after 32 minutes.
1874 Northwich have no match this weekend but will next host City of Liverpool at Townfield in Northern Premier League West on Tuesday.
They will be smarting after giving up a 3-0 half-time lead at Kidsgrove in midweek and were saved by the woodwork from conceding a fourth goal late on.
Jack Irlam put 1874 ahead in the fourth minute from a Joe Woolley assist.
And then four minutes later Jamie Reed doubled the advantage from a corner.
Fenton Green hammered the ball home in the 32nd minute to put 1874 in command.
But three goals in 11 second-half minutes earned Kidsgrove a share of the spoils.
Aaron Bott struck in the 63rd and 73rd minutes before Kieran Knapper levelled things.
Barnton, who have not played in midweek, host Cammell Laird 1907 on Saturday.
