NORTHWICH Victoria have safely progressed to the Emirates FA Cup preliminary round but 1874 Northwich bowed out at the first hurdle.
Vics won 2-1 at Squires Gate to book a home tie on August 20 with West Didsbury and Chorlton, who were victorious at Longridge Town.
The Trickies, who host Litherland REMYCA in the North West Counties League Premier Division on Wednesday, were forced to hang on in the second half, when Ryan Riley's composed 63rd minute finish halved the deficit.
Vics headed into the changing rooms at half-time in buoyant mood, with Brandon Barski having fired home a free kick moments earlier for a 2-0 lead.
Ashley Dunn initially put them in front in the 17th minute, firing home after a long throw was not dealt with by the home defence.
Across Lancashire, Colne ended any hopes of an 1874 run in the competition with a 2-1 success in an incident-packed encounter.
Owen Watkinson chased onto a ball and fired past former Colne keeper Tony Aghayere to put the hosts ahead after 33 minutes.
Joe Woolley rifled home from inside the area to level matters after 57 minutes.
But three minutes later Jack Doherty headed home the winner from a corner.
Twice 74 rattled the crossbar after that via Kenzie O'Neill and Matt Woolley.
And Joe Woolley had a penalty appeal waved away in the 81st minute.
Both sides had a goal ruled out for offside in the first half.
1874 start their Northern Premier League West campaign at home to Prescot Cables next Saturday.
Meanwhile, Barnton picked up their first point of the season with a 2-2 home draw against Brocton in North West Counties League First Division South.
They led twice, with Liam Kennington giving them a 10th-minute lead from the penalty spot.
And although Regan Smith equalised in the 26th minute, Barnton were immediately back in front courtesy of Thomas Edwards.
But it was Smith again in the 50th minute who ensured a share of the spoils for the visitors.
Barnton are away to Ashville on Tuesday.
