A FAMILY fun day is being held in Davenham this weekend with the aim of giving people a free taster of farm life.
The event is being held at the Riverside Organic Farm Shop and Café which is located in an idyllic spot perched at the top of Shipbrook Hill.
There will be tractor rides, the chance to feed animals, as well as some of the more standard summer fete activities such as face painting – but best of all, entry to the event is completely free.
Simon Bennett, who owns the business, said he wanted to provide families with something they could enjoy during what is a difficult time for many financially.
He said: “It’s a free entry event for people with kids.
“We’re very aware at the moment the monetary crisis everybody is having.
“We just thought it was a good way to try and help by providing people with something fun and free to do.
“There will also be a small street market too, with plenty of stalls and there will be a fun treasure hunt.
“Basically, just loads of fun things for the kids to do and hopefully it will keep them quiet for a couple of hours!”
The business boasts one of the best views in the whole of Cheshire, with panoramic views all the way down the hill– and they are also home to burgers described as legendary.
“Hopefully we might attract an audience who have never visited us before,” Simon added.
“We’ve got adventure playgrounds and of course, we’ve got the animals to feed.
“We’re quite well-placed where we are here, because the café is actually inexpensive for eating out at, compared to going to the pub for example.
“We’re just trying to make people aware that we’re here.
“And it’s not like going to the zoo where you have to pay out £80/£90 before you’ve even started.
“It’s free to get in and you can come for as long as you like”
The family day takes place at Riverside Organic Farm Shop & Café at Shipbrook Hill Farm, Manor Lane in Davenham. Doors open at 10am until 4pm.
