Teenage band who met at Sir John Deane's College to play gig

Northern Streets were set up towards the end of last year after three of the four-piece got together at Sir John Deane’s Sixth Form College.

Bass player Dylan Rice explained how the band then completed the line up when they signed up one of their mates Dylan Oakes, to play drums.

“There’s myself on bass, James Harman on lead guitar and Harry Lamb on rhythm guitar and vocals.

“The three of us originally met in our college jazz band.

“We only went along in the hope that we’d find other musicians.

“Dylan was then brought in to play drums as he was a friend of mine and Harry’s.”

According to Dylan, the band have a unique and varied sound with each member bringing their own musical taste to the table.

“It was our combined interests in bands like Oasis and Arctic Monkeys, that brought it all together to give us quite a unique sound,” he added.

“I guess we bring a bit of an alt-rock vibe and in terms of our gigs, they’re a combination of both originals and covers.

“We’ve actually got a few originals written now and we’re hoping to get them recorded with the help of a producer very soon.”

The band have already played gigs around the area, including the Now Northwich Festival in April, as well as a jam night at The Salty Dog.

“We’re obviously hoping we can play a gig at Delamere Street Dog in Winsford soon if we can,” he said.

“The gig on Wednesday is a hometown one for me, so we’re hoping to get quick a few people we know down there.

“Our plan at the moment is just to try and break into that local music scene a bit more.”

Northern Streets will play The Kings Lock, Booths Lane in Middlewich on Wednesday, July 27.

They will be supported by Rose Parade, with the action kicking off at 8pm. Tickets are free.
