A NIGHT of punk music is set to gatecrash the town's iconic Plaza with ten amazing acts lined up to play.
Punk at the Plaza has been organised by The Salty Dog's Chris Mundie, after he was given the opportunity by 80's legends Heaven 17.
"In a nutshell, I was given the opportunity to put on a gig in one of the coolest buildings in the area," said Chris.
"The Plaza - being an old cinema with a grade 2 listing - so I figured it was something of a one-time opportunity and packed in as many bands I liked as I could."
The line up spans what has become the very broad church of punk rock, headed up by London’s finest Snuff, one of Chris’s all time favourite bands.
He said: "I think I’ve maybe seen Snuff more than any other band.
"I recall having to get a fake ID to go and see them in Stoke and they were always the highlight of any summer festival.
"They started in the 80’s and flew the flag for decent punk rock at a time when the original punk bands had either disbanded or started playing terrible metal.
"We discovered them in the 90’s when they signed to FAT Wreck in the US and they’ve really been going from strength to strength ever since.
"They’re one of those bands that can do daft and serious at the same time and sometimes even within the same song.
"They are absolutely stunning live too."
But the night involves many brilliant acts, including American band Authority Zero, who are selling out massive venues in the USA and our currently touring the European festival circuit.
Chris' very own band - Kicked In The Teeth - have been shoehorned on to the bill and another local Northwich band appearing will be Dirty Vertebrae.
"They are absolutely killer," said Chris.
"Combining ska, hip hop and funk - they bring the party massively wherever they go, which for the most part is slaying the festivals of the UK."
Other acts include Gimp Fist, Wonk Unit, Culture Shock, Brassick, Geoffrey Oi! Cott and Slakrr.
Punk at the Plaza takes place on Saturday, August 13.
