THREE Northwich schools are celebrating after coming out on top in a public vote for their brilliant artwork.
During the month of June, over 20 primary schools from around Northwich entered pieces of work for the Children’s Art Trail.
The exhibition was organised by Visual Arts Cheshire - a voluntary organisation promoting arts within the Northwich area - and featured some amazing work by the town’s schoolchildren.
Having been on display for weeks however, the three schools that came out on top in the public vote were the following: St Bede’s Catholic Primary School, Moulton Primary School and Little Leigh Primary School.
The three winners all received a certificate, and each school were given £75 worth of vouchers to spend at Ryman Stationery – which has a store in Northwich.
Speaking about the success of the event, Phil Carswell, from Visual Arts Cheshire, said it was great to see many children taking part and showing off their artistic talents.
“The work submitted is a testament to the imagination and creativity of the children and their teachers,” he said.
“This year’s exhibition was entitled ‘Connections’ and explored how we all connect to people no matter where they are from in the world.
“The ideas were explored using a variety of mediums and provided an intriguing insight into children’s ideas and beliefs, giving us all food for thought.
“The public were able to enjoy the exhibition and each of the colourful artworks, before voting on the ones they liked best.”
The exhibition was supported by Northwich BID and Adam Gerrard, Project Manager said how impressed he was with the standard of entries.
“The work submitted by all schools was fantastic, but these three obviously stood out as the people’s winners,” he added.
“I hope they’re able to make good use of the vouchers at Ryman and enjoy a trip out to Northwich at the same time.”
Barons Quay’s Centre Manager, Lina Higuita said the trail is always a highlight of the year.
“We’re constantly impressed by the talent of the youth of Northwich.
“Our visitors have been enjoying taking part in the Connections Challenge, answering questions about the exhibition to win a toy bundle from The Entertainer.
“It’s an absolute pleasure to host the event and we look forward to seeing what next year’s exhibition brings.”
