THE heat has put paid to a Witton Albion match.
A forecast for extreme temperatures tomorrow means Albion's pre-season friendly against Vauxhall Motors has been cancelled.
This means Witton's next game will be against their U Lock It Stadium tenants Northwich Victoria on Saturday.
Albion, under the new management of Jon Macken, drew 2-2 at home to Stalybridge Celtic on Saturday.
A quality fourth-minute finish from striker Joe Duckworth gave Witton the lead, while Celtic levelled from the penalty spot 10 minutes later courtesy of Raul Correia.
A good number of chances were created for both teams in a decent half of football, considering the sweltering conditions.
Three fine saves from Witton keper Ollie Martin kept the scores level at the break.
Stalybridge went ahead for the first time through Aarron Grewal but one of a number of Witton trialists on show levelled matters with a lovely goal in the 77th minute after a flurry of substitutions and a scrappy phase.
