THE swans at Winsford Marina were not the only ones enjoying the water as they were joined by 50 Mid Cheshire Scouts for a raft race.
The scouts used their pioneering skills to build rafts out of ropes, poles and barrels.
With three rafts on the water at a time and after several heats, the winning troop was from St Wilfrid’s scout group, Northwich.
Mike Gerrard, assistant district commissioner said: “It’s fantastic to restart this annual event after a hiatus of two years due to the pandemic.
“I’m overwhelmed with the number of scouts who attended the event; their enthusiasm was so infectious.
“What made the activity all the better were the number of parents and grandparents who came down to watch and support the scouts.”
Drew Wood, deputy district commissioner for activities said: “As with all scouting events, the presence of the many volunteers needed to ensure that the activity is safe, as well as fun, is a must.
“We are grateful that we have volunteers to run these events, but we always need more help.”
