A MAN found hiding in the loft of a house in Northwich after being on the run from police for two weeks has appeared in court.
Keiron Banks, of Marina Village in Runcorn but with several links to Northwich, was finally apprehended by officers after he escaped from lawful custody on Thursday, June 30.
The 30-year-old managed to give police officers the slip after they arrived at his home to arrest him in relation to a string of alleged offences, including stalking and assaulting a woman in her home in Barnton.
After two weeks spent looking for their man, Banks was finally detained by officers on Wednesday, July 13, after police found hiding in a loft of a house in the Lostock Gralam area.
Banks, wearing a grey tracksuit, was produced from custody to appear in the dock at Warrington Magistrates Court on Friday, July 15.
He entered not guilty pleas to each of the 11 charges – including the most serious of those – escaping from lawful custody – which is in an indictable only offence and must therefore be dealt with at the crown court.
Banks also denied 10 other charges which relate to an allegation of stalking a woman in Barnton causing her to believe violence would be used against her. He also denied two charges of assault, occasioning her actual bodily harm, driving while disqualified as well as two charges of criminal damage.
He also denied making threats to disclose private sexual photographs and films with the intention to cause distress as well as two other charges of assault.
Due to the seriousness of the allegations, Banks was remanded in custody and will next appear at Chester Magistrates Court on August 12.
