A LOT of pride is being felt for the Davenham Primary School cricket team.
Boys from Years 5 and 6, who all play for the Davenham Cricket Club under 11s team, secured runners-up spot for the school in a county tournament that involved 32 teams.
The Davenham boys, led by Year 6 teacher Mr Jackson, only narrowly missed out on winning the competition by 12 runs.
Joanne Hyslop, headteacher at Davenham Primary School, said: “We are all extremely proud of the team's achievement and the way they behaved in such a sporting manner."
To even contest the Cheshire Dynamos County Schools Cricket finals at Warrington Cricket Club, they needed to qualify.
And they did this in style.
They successfully won the local finals a few months back, then won the Vale Royal finals to book their ticket to the main event.
The completion took place at Warrington Cricket club and despite fierce competition they came second losing out by only 12 runs.
Steve Kinder, under 11s coach at Davenham Cricket Club, added: "Well done to all the boys. You did yourselves proud, the school proud and the cricket club."
