THE likely return of the hugely popular Krazy Races to Northwich next year has been described as “a no brainer”.
That was the view of town councillor Sam Naylor who also urged more local businesses and organisations to get involved.
More than 15,000 thousand people descended on the town on Sunday, June 26, as Castle Hill became a racetrack with a variety of specially made karts speeding down it.
At a meeting of the town council on Monday, July 4, town clerk Chris Shaw was given a round of applause for his hard work and effort organising the event, that was originally scheduled for 2020.
“It’s an absolute no brainer to bring it back next year,” Cllr Naylor said.
“It was an absolutely fantastic day and proves the town’s appetite for that kind of thing.
“The only thing that disappointed me was the lack of local establishments and organisations that entered teams.
“I think we’ve got a bit of work to do in that respect.
“But on the back of it and the numbers that turned out, businesses will be chomping on the bit to be involved next year.
“I also include local sports clubs and colleges in that too – at one time it would be a given that organisations like that would be involved.”
Chris Shaw was also keen to thank the thousands that attended - making the event so special.
“After a long wait and in partnership with Sarah Belcher Events, we finally saw Krazy Races come to Northwich, and what a fantastic event it was for the town,” he said.
“The event was originally planned more than two years ago but because of the Covid pandemic was cancelled twice.
“We’ve had sponsors and teams drop out during this time due to the uncertainty, but we got there in the end.
“The event was really well received with plenty of positive comments on the day.
“If we are to hold the event again, we would need more teams to sign up.
“This also goes for finding additional sponsors.
“But it represents the ideal opportunity to promote businesses in the town.
“It wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support of our partners and volunteers who worked tirelessly throughout the day.”
