THE 2022 Mid Cheshire under 18s representative football team have delivered a rare success.
They won the Cheshire County District Cup Final on Friday night.
That secured the silverware for the team for only the fifth time in 80 years.
Mid Cheshire secured the achievement by beating much fancied Altrincham DFA – historically the strongest DFA representative side 3-1.
Goal scorers were George Edwards, Jack Calloway and Ben Miller.
Alec Thomson, the District FA youth secretary, said: "I'm really proud of the lads' achievements especially as I would say that Mid Cheshire is probably the smallest district association in the county and definitely punched above their weight this time around."
MCDFA progressed to the final by despatching Runcorn DFA 8-3 and beating a strong Crewe DFA side 3-0 in what was essentially a semi final.
The team are managed by Alan Hoare alongside coaches Mike Tully, Martyn Burrows and physio Phil Lea.
Squad, from left, back row, Lewis Bennett, Zach Williams, Jacob Hamman, George Edwards, Harry Savage, Ben Miller, Adam O' Mara, Jack Sandbach, Jack Calloway, Declan Ingham; front row, Luke Kelly, Bailey Sherlock, Arron Biddle, Regan Johnson, Josh Tully, Ellis Burrows.
