A MAN pulled over on the M6 near Tabley who was found in possession of a Samurai sword and a knife, has been jailed.
Adrian Gillett was driving a white BMW on May 4, when officers pulled him over by junction 19.
Not only was the 48-year-old driving with no insurance, but he was also driving a vehicle he wasn’t legally allowed to get behind the wheel of.
Gillett was appearing at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, June 24, to be sentenced after he admitted being in possession of a bladed article in a public place and the two motoring offences, at a hearing on May 24.
Magistrates told him carrying both a knife and Samurai sword in his car was such a serious offence, only a custodial sentence could be justified.
They sentenced him to six months behind bars and also ordered the weapons to be forfeited and destroyed.
Gillett, of Hallwood Road in Manchester, must also pay £85 in court costs and a surcharge to fund victim services of £128.
He was also given eight points on his license.
