Darnhall Primary School headteacher's 'good luck' message for year six leavers

Year six pupils from Darnhall Primary School embarked on a trip to Llandudno following completion of their SATs exams.

The children, who have gone through Key Stage 2 during the disruption caused by Covid-19, enjoyed glorious June weather on their trip to the seaside.

Now Sarah Tomlinson, the headteacher, has wished them all the best as they create some final memories from their time at primary school.

She said: "Wow what a year we have had in school.

"I am so proud of the young people leaving us and wish them so much happiness and success at high school.

"It has felt so good having school back to normal and be able to enjoy so many things we have missed.

"This trip has always been a real favourite as it’s like a mini seaside break for the children.

"I always have so many staff volunteers for this outing as it’s really special spending time with our leavers creating their final primary school memories and where better than at the seaside!"

Linking to their science and some of their English topics, the children first visited the Welsh Mountain Zoo and learned about a plethora of animals and their characteristics - the 'Penguin Parade' being a class favourite.

Whilst in Llandudno, they explored the seaside town and ventured up the Great Orme and soaked in the amazing sights.

Finally, to celebrate their time at school with their very good friends and classmates, the children and staff played games on the beach and enjoyed the 'Arcade'.

One pupil, Alfie Russell, said: "I really enjoyed it more as I knew it was my last Darnhall residential.

"We were lucky to have amazing weather and it was really fun!"
