THE Northwich Jubilee Carnival Queen will finally be crowned as the popular event returns to Verdin Park next weekend.
After two years, Northwich Carnival will return on Saturday, July 2.
Emily Porter from Leftwich will at last be crowned, after being chosen as queen in early March 2020.
This year there will be no street parade through the town, but there will be a field event entitled "Jubilee Party in the Park".
The gates will open at 12 noon and admission is £3 for adults and £1.50 for school-age children.
A spokesperson said: “After the pageant of the 2019 retinue, former carnival queens and visiting queens from around the district, the crowning ceremony will be carried out by carnival committee president and chairperson, Barbara Turner, who has had a long and dedicated association with this event.
“There will be family entertainment from 3pm in the main arena, including Vale Royal Falconry display, Impulse Dancers and a novelty dog show at approximately 4pm.
“Also, "Uncle TOBY" the magician will be entertaining the younger children on the field during the afternoon.
“There will also be a tombola stall and a raffle with great prizes kindly donated by local businesses, to whom we are indebted.”
There will be food and drink to buy, plus entertainment from 6pm by Lostock Ukes, Cheshire Pop Choir and individual singers, including retiring queen, Keira McTasney.
Manders Fair is open from Thursday, June 30, till the morning of Sunday, July 3, when there will be a car boot sale in the park open to the public from 9am till 1pm.
Sellers can arrive from 8am and the fee is £7 per car and £10 for vans.
The spokesperson added: “We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back to this traditional event and praying for good weather.
“Come along, bring a picnic and have a relaxing hour or two in our lovely park, enjoying local talent and entertainment.”
