VANDAL-PROOF Christmas lights seemed to do the trick in Davenham and Kingsmead.
New lights were bought for the village Christmas trees after years of yobs smashing bulbs and parish councillors were pleased with the results.
Clr John Curran said: "One thing about this year was that our clerk was kind enough to find us new lights which were vandal-proof and they were not attacked - they're still more or less intact."
Chairman Clr Arthur Wood said: "I was sceptical about whether they would work but they did."
