AT just 34 years old, former Great British Bake Off finalist Katie Lyon has various achievements under her belt, but she’s now found her true calling – working with children.
After Katie had her son last year, she started her own business - Bloom Baby Classes – soon to be in Knutsford and then progressing to Northwich, Winsford and surrounding areas.
Having started off her career as a site-based surveyor on building sites, Katie retrained in law then joined the civil service where she worked defending workers in legal hearings for more than six years.
She is now looking forward to bringing her passion for baby development to families living across Cheshire when she takes over the business in September.
And she’ll also be bringing her creative eye to the new venture, having competed in the UK’s most-loved baking show – the Great British Bake Off.
“It was back in 2017 when I was on the show,” explained Katie.
“I even made it to the final, and from time to time, people recognise me when I’m out and about.
“I had done an intensive stint baking on the show, and I definitely needed a break from it.
“Now I have a nine-month-old, I barely have time to make toast. I cook for my baby and that’s about it. I was certainly looking for my next opportunity.
“As I prepare to welcome new mums and dads to my sessions later this year, I really hope it won’t be long before I’m known for another reason – bringing Bloom Baby Classes to Knutsford and the surrounding areas.
“Having my little boy last year made me realise just how important classes like Bloom Baby are for your little one’s development.
“Not many of my friends already had babies, so creating my own community at classes was a real lifeline.”
Katie invested in her Bloom Baby Classes franchise in March, having attended sessions at another location with her son.
Sessions at Bloom Baby classes incorporate a gentle multi-sensory baby development and massage class for younger babies.
Katie’s fun, interactive and inclusive sessions focus on your baby’s cognitive, physical, social, emotional and linguistic development in a creative way.
Classes launch this September starting in Knutsford, and additional classes will launch in Winsford, Northwich and surrounding areas in the coming months.
