Culcheth crime drops nearly a quarter in one month

Of the figures reported in April, according to Police.uk, the majority of the reported crimes fell under the "violent and sexual offences" category.

In April there were 46 crimes reported in the area, with 19 of those falling under the violent and sexual offences category.

Anti-social behaviour accounted for 10 of the crimes reported in April, followed by seven reports of criminal damage and arson.

This compares to the previous month, which reported 40 violent and sexual offences, eight counts of anti-social behaviour, and four of criminal damage and arson.

Reported levels of crime in the town centre were 72 per cent higher than in Culcheth in April, though the largest number of reported crimes also fell under the category of violent and sexual offences - 62 were reported in the town centre in one month.

There were slightly more crimes reported in the town centre in April compared to March, with 167 being reported in March, and 168 reported in April.

Only four crimes reported were involving vehicles in Culcheth in April

Crime in Culcheth, Croft and Glazebury is down significantly from January of this year, when 67 crimes were reported.

This means that between January and April this year, reported crime in Culcheth fell by nearly one third.

Over the last 12 months, figures from Police.uk show that 258 violent and sexual offences were reported in Culcheth, which accounted for 45.5 per cent of overall reported crime in the area over that period.
