POLICE have arrested a man spotted drinking alcohol while driving this afternoon, Wednesday.
The incident was reported first on the M6.
Members of the public using the motorway reported that the driver was drinking from a bottle of wine.
The vehicle joined the M62 at Croft Interchange, where the person behind the wheel was stopped by police on patrol.
Officers from North West Motorway Police, who made the arrest, say the driver committed a ‘Fatal Four’ offence.
Namely speeding, using a mobile phone while driving, not wearing a seatbelt and drink or drug driving, Fatal Four offences are the four main causes of people being killed or seriously injured on the roads.
