A CHARITY has sent its 70th container of overseas aid to the Ukraine.
Care UK hit the milestone two weeks ago (Saturday, May 14) and were joined by former Northwich mayor Cllr Sam Naylor, in one of his last formal duties in the role.
The lorry, provided by charity Hope and Aid Direct, will make its way to Ukraine, via Romania.
It is filled with hygiene items, nappies, filled Moses baskets for new Mums and their babies, blankets, food, sleeping bags plus hundreds of activity packs for children, lovingly packed by school children from the area.
Nora Carlin, the founder of Care UK Charity said: “So far, we have sent nearly £14k to Dr Iryna Rybinkina who is working tirelessly in Ukraine, leading a large team of volunteers who are all helping people to flee the war zones and help them medically.
“Part of these funds was used to purchase a minibus with a disabled ramp to help the team with their work.”
Nora went on to thank the charity’s supporters on social media, saying: “Every one of you have been amazing, no matter how small or large your donation you have helped and comforted another human being.
“We will make more activity packs for the little ones, send more funds, more hygiene items, and nappies. Whatever is needed we will do our best to support the people of Ukraine.”
