A MAN charged with attempted murder outside a gym in Northwich has had his trial adjourned until September.
Samson Price, of Sefton Road in Wigan, was due to stand trial at Chester Crown Court on Monday, May 9.
The 47-year-old denies attempting to murder a 20-year-old from Winsford on the evening of Thursday, September 23, 2021.
Police and paramedics were called to PureGym on Leicester Street shortly after 7pm after reports a man had been stabbed.
Price was arrested the following month and charged with attempted murder and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
Although he admits the second of those charges, he has denied the first.
However, the trial has now been put back until the week commencing September 26.
The application was made due to the defending counsel being involved in another serious case at Liverpool Crown Court.
Judge Patrick Thompson accepted the application made to the court.
He said: "It was unavoidable due to the unavailability of counsel in this matter.
"This is a good and sufficient course of action."
The judge also extended the custody time limit for Price, which was due to expire on May 13.
Price, who did not appear at the hearing, will therefore be remanded in custody until the commencement of the trial later in the year.
