WELCOME to Behind the Lens, a feature shining a light on the talented photographers in our Guardian Camera Club group.
Meet Miriam Elder, 62, who lives in Knutsford.
When and why did you take up photography?
I have always enjoyed taking photos of places I’ve visited on holiday, but during lockdown I discovered I enjoyed my daily walks much more if I took photographs along the way.
What do you love about taking pictures?
I love when I get the correct light, angle and framing and capture the subject at its best.
Where is your favourite place to take pictures and why?
I love Tatton Park as there is such a variety of possibilities! The deer, the trees, the meres and even the gates at the entrance - they all look so different depending on the time of day and the weather.
What is your favourite subject matter and why?
Probably landscapes - skies and sunsets. Nature at its best!
What do you enjoy about being part of the Guardian Camera Club?
Obviously it's lovely when one of my photos is featured, but it's also great to see other people’s work and to get to know about areas of beauty in Cheshire that I've not already visited.
If you could photograph anyone/any place/anything, who/what would it be?
I would love to be able to travel all over Italy taking photos as its such a gorgeous country.
