MORE children in Cheshire East received their first-choice primary school compared with children in Cheshire West.

On Tuesday, many families across the boroughs found out what primary school their children will be joining this autumn, on what is commonly known as National Offer Day.

In Cheshire East, 98 per cent of children secured their first choice.

In Cheshire West, this figure was 92.7 per cent.

A Local Government Association spokesperson said: “Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important things a parent will do, and this time of year can be extremely stressful.

“Everyone wants their child in a school where they can be happy, safe and reach their full potential.

“Councils have also responded to increasing demand with the creation of hundreds of thousands of new places in recent years.

“This is a demonstrable record that they are doing everything they can to rise to the challenge of ensuring no child goes without a place.”

You can appeal to your local authority if you aren't happy with the school you have been allocated - but be wary that these cut-off dates vary from council to council.

This is usually 10 days from when the offers get handed out.
