MEMBERS of a Cuddington and Sandiway committee are determined to carry on fundraising for a village hall - despite being turned down by the National Lottery.
The committee's original bid for funding made national headlines and was turned down for reasons which included a lack of refugees and asylum seekers living in the community.
They were much more hopeful this time after reducing their request for funding from £500,000 to £160,0000 and had made it to a final list of bids to be considered.
Parish Clr Stehen Chivers, who represents the parish council on the committee, reported to parish councillors on what had happened in the latest meeting.
Clr Chivers said: "They are still quite positive although disappointed.
"They still feel they have enough money to move forward.
"They are looking at ways of reducing the cost and are going to approach builders to see if they can save a considerable amount of money."
The committee already has a pledge from Vale Royal Borough Council to the tune of £250,000.
This will happen if match funding can be found, while WREN has promised £25,000.
Now investigations are starting into whether the group can raise funds from the public works plan board.
