AFTER making its debut in September last year, the town’s tastebuds are set to be tantalised once again with the return of the Northwich Vegan Market.
It proved to be a big hit with visitors to the town when it was first held last year and on Saturday, April 2, it is back and will be bigger and better than ever.
Vegan Market Co run several similar events at 40 locations across the country, and company founder Lewis Beresford said he was excited to be coming back to Northwich.
“We started out doing a market in Chester, and then it spread to many other locations in the northwest.
“We held our first one in Northwich last September and it’s great to be coming back.
“We work hard to find the country’s leading vegan producers, from street food vendors and bakers to ethical clothing and cosmetic producers,” he said.
“We also work with many local businesses we can and can’t wait to give all of these fantastic producers the platform they deserve and introduce them to the wonderful people of Northwich.
“It’s generally regional, but we do have some traders who do travel up and down the country.”
The market provides the opportunity for vegan food and produce to be showcased to a wider audience and maybe even dispel some myths about the ever-growing way of life.
“We’ll have a variety of vegan street foods, which are a good entry point for a lot of people,” Lewis went on to say.
“There will be quite a few artisan bakeries, including both sweet and savoury bakes, which always prove to be very popular too.
“We also have the store cupboard foods people can take away back to their homes.
“So, the likes of crafted chutneys and cooking sauces and things like that.”
But the market isn’t just about food, with plenty of ethical cosmetic items being sold as well.
He added: “There will be crafters who make their own clothing and accessories, which are all obviously sustainable.
“There will also be environmental charities with stalls there so people can find out more about what they can do to help.”
Northwich Vegan Market will take place on Saturday, April 2 at Apple Market Place between 10.30am-4pm.
