MOTORISTS are being warned to expect delays on the M6 this morning, Monday.
Two lanes were closed and queueing traffic is being reported on the northbound carriageway following an accident.
This saw a lorry shed its load of limestone across the carriageway between junction 21 for Woolston and junction 21a for the M62 at Croft Interchange.
At its height, more than five miles of queuing traffic was reported stretching back past junction 20 for the M56 at Lymm Interchange.
All lanes have now reopened, however congestion still remains as traffic returns to normal levels.
Traffic officers from National Highways work to clear the remainder of the debris from the road is now complete.
A spokesman said: "Thanks for your patience if you were held up."
