A MAN who denied any role in the death of a 22-month-old child was sent to prison for her manslaughter this week.

CHILD killer Brandon Heath has been jailed after causing the death of a 22-month-old girl and trying to blame it on her mum.
The 22-year-old, currently in HMP Altcourse, was convicted of manslaughter at Chester Crown Court last Thursday after the jury cleared him of the more serious charge of murder.
The youngster was taken to hospital on August 30, 2020, while in Heath's care and it was discovered she had suffered a ‘catastrophic’ brain injury.
With no real prospect of survival, her life support machines at Alder Hey Children Hospital were switched off the following day.
Woman who assaulted two police officers to be sentenced
A WOMAN from Northwich is set to be sentenced after assaulting two police officers in an incident last summer.
Chloe Callow, of Gleave Road in Weaverham, pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting an emergency worker during an incident which took place on June 9 last year.
The 32-year-old appeared at Chester Crown Court on Thursday, March 3, after she admitting both charges at an earlier hearing on January 19.
Man who sexually assaulted child took pictures of her and distributed them
A MAN has pleaded guilty to 'incredibly serious' sexually offences against a young child.
Craig Paul Crowther, of Tilstone Close was appearing at Chester Crown Court on Friday, March 11.
It was disclosed that the 31-year-old had already pleaded guilty to a total of 10 charges at Chester Magistrates Court on February 11.
Crowther admits three charges of sexually assaulting the child as well as two charges of taking photographs of her and two for the distribution of those images.
Man jailed after year-long campaign of 'humiliating' and 'controlling' his ex
A MAN has been jailed after he admitted an almost year-long campaign of 'humiliating' and 'controlling' behaviour against his ex-partner.
Neil Brown, of Beeston Close in Middlewich, was set to face a trial but changed his plea to one of guilty at Chester Crown Court on Thursday, March 10.
The 61-year-old was said to have isolated the woman from her friends and family as he engaged in the controlling behaviour between November 1, 2020, and October 15 last year.
Banned driver took Mercedes without consent and also stole bank card
A MAN is to be sentenced after admitting taking a car without consent and stealing a bank card.
Damien Harmon, of Lilac Drive, took the Mercedes from an address in Beswicks Road on November 8 last year.
The 41-year-old was appearing at Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, March 4, where he entered guilty pleas to a total of four charges.
As well as taking the Mercedes B180, Harmon also stole a bank card belonging to a woman in Weaverham on the same day.
Police searching for man facing stalking charges who failed to show up at court
A NORTHWICH man wanted on stalking charges has failed to show up at court and remains at large, police have confirmed.
Jaffar Lafta, of Huxley Street, was due to attend Chester Crown Court on Monday, February 28, but failed to show up.
The 33-year-old has been charged with stalking a woman over a period spanning more than four years.
Shoplifting pair who stole plumbing items from B&Q re-sentenced
A PAIR of shoplifters with links to Northwich have both been re-sentenced after they failed to comply with the probation service.
Toni-Ann Philpin and Stephen Timms, who now both reside on Brook Street in Chester, failed to comply with community orders made at Tameside Magistrates Court on October 11 last year.
They had been made the subject of those orders after 31-year-old Philpin and Timms were caught stealing plumbing items worth almost £400 from B&Q in Crewe on September 9 last year.
Handbag thief used stolen bank cards to buy booze before breaking into house
A NORTHWICH burglar has admitted stealing bank cards and using them to buy booze and other items.
Shaun Kelly, of Beech Grove in Weaverham, also broke into a home in Acton Bridge and stole items ranging from ladies shoes to a telescope.
The 36-year-old was appearing at Chester Crown Court on Tuesday, March 8, where he admitted to a total of eight charges.
Five of those offences related to matters of fraud when the thief used bank cards he had stolen from a lady's handbag in various shops around the town.
Woman avoids spell behind bars after assaulting two police officers
A WOMAN has avoided jail despite assaulting two police officers in Winsford while on a suspended sentence.
Lydia Burns, of Leyland Walk, had been handed an eight-week prison sentence for harrassment and two assaults by Blackpool Magistrates on August 16 last year.
Although that sentence was suspended for 12 months, it didn't deter the 36-year-old from beating the two female police officers at her home address on Friday, March 4.
Burns appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Monday, March 7, where she pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting an emergency worker.
Hotel worker stole jewellery from guests when their rooms were empty
A HOTEL worker has avoided an immediate spell behind bars after stealing jewellery from the hotel rooms of two guests.
Brian Albert Riley, of Longridge, was working at the Cottons Hotel and Spa in Manchester Road when he carried out the thefts.
The 26-year-old stole an opal pendant and opal earrings, of an unknown value, from the room where a female guest was staying in November last year.
The jewellery thief then entered the room of another guest and stole an engagement ring worth £2,000.
