A NORTHWICH man wanted on stalking charges has failed to show up at court and remains at large, police have confirmed.
Jaffar Lafta, of Huxley Street, was due to attend Chester Crown Court on Monday, February 28, but failed to show up.
The 33-year-old has been charged with stalking a woman over a period spanning more than four years.
It is alleged that between September 1, 2017, and January 30 of this year, Lafta caused serious harm and distress to the woman, resulting in a substantial and adverse effect on her usual day-to-day activities.
Among the allegations made against Lafta are that he sent the complainant alarming and distressing messages and communications using various social media accounts.
The incidents are said to have taken place both in Cheshire and West London.
When he failed to turn up to enter a plea before Judge Steven Everett, a warrant was issued for Lafta's arrest.
A spokesman for Cheshire Police said the warrant remains active and he remains outstanding.
