THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised for St Luke's Hospice thanks to the 'overwhelming' support for its first ever 'Spinathon' event.
On February 20, 33 supporters of the hospice, which cares for adults in mid and south Cheshire who suffer from cancer and other life-limiting illnesses, took over the spin studio at Brio's Winsford Lifestyle centre.
Those involved took part in three 90-minute sessions, with some challenging themselves to do all three and cycling for a total of four and a half hours.
Now, more than £6,700 has been raised for patient care at the hospice.
The ‘Spinathon’ was led by experienced instructor Lorna Tulloch, who kept the fundraisers motivated throughout the day.
She said: “I'm absolutely overwhelmed by how much money has been raised for the hospice from the Spinathon.
"It was such a brilliant day raising money for our local hospice, everybody did so well on the day and they were a pleasure to teach.
"Here's to Spinathon 2023!"
Angela Slack, St Luke’s community partnerships manager, said “St Luke’s Hospice would like to thank everyone who was involved in the Spinathon, including those who took part, donors, Brio Winsford for hosting the event and Lorna Tulloch for organising.
"We are overwhelmed by the amount of money raised by our brilliant supporters who always go the extra mile for our hospice.”
