NORTHWICH has shown its support for the poeple of Ukraine by lighting up Town Bridge.
The bridge has been illuminated by blue and yellow lights, in a show of solidarity after the country was invaded by Russian forces this week.
The town council have used the bridge as a beacon of hope in recent years, showing support for a variety of causes, including during times of Remembrance when it is bathed in red light.
Blue and yellow lights, the same as those on the Ukranian flag will be projected on to the bridge of an evening.
Town Mayor Cllr Sam Naylor announced the decision on social media, saying: "Northwich Town Council will be illuminating Town Bridge blue and yellow from tonight (Friday, February 26) in support of the Ukrainian people."
Jillian Jane Clayton shared these striking images of town bridge illuminated in blue and yellow lights on Facebook.
Northwich MP Mike Amesbury has also spoken of his support Ukraine while condeming the actions of Russia and its President Vladimir Putin.
He said: "Putin's invasion of Ukraine is an attack on all who cherish freedom, democracy, the rule of law and sovereignty.
"We must stand in solidarity with the people of Ukraine and all across the globe working for peace.
"Our response must be unified and strong.
"I stand with Ukraine."
