WELCOME to Behind the Lens, a feature shining a light on the talented photographers in our Guardian Camera Club group.
Meet Lynzi Blake, 45, from Winsford.
When and why did you take up photography?
I first remember taking photographs on family holidays with my mum, dad and sister.
My dad had an Olympus camera in the early 1980s and loved taking photographs until his eyes deteriorated and he was registered blind.
He still had various cameras after that but usually set to auto mode and we all used them.
What do you love about taking pictures?
I love taking pictures as you are focused on that exact moment in time, usually outside in nature where you don’t know what you may see.
It’s also a great feeling when you manage to take a picture you are proud of.
I am a harsh critic of my pictures.
Where is your favourite place to take pictures and why?
I haven’t got a favourite place to take pictures as I will take a picture of anything, anywhere.
Most walks usually end up by a canal, river, lake or sea though!
What is your favourite subject matter and why?
Anything in nature as I love being outside.
What do you enjoy about being part of the Guardian Camera Club?
It’s great to share pictures with others who love photography and also hopefully make people smile.
If you could photograph anyone/any place/anything, who/what would it be?
I would love to return to the Grand Canyon to compare photographs now with when I went in 2005 with my first digital camera on auto with no knowledge on composition or depth of field.
