GOLF club members have raised more than £6,000 for a charity close to their hearts.

Antrobus Golf Club held its annual general meeting on Monday, where the outgoing captains announced they had raised £6,750 for Prostate Cancer UK.

PCUK is close to the hearts of captains Tony Rooney and Tracey Makin, who have organised a series of events during their captaincy to generate these funds.

A joint statement reads: “The members of Antrobus Golf Club have demonstrated immense generosity in achieving this figure for such a significant charity.

“We are so proud of our club’s efforts to realise substantial sums for a really important cause.”

Tony Collier accepted the money on behalf of PCUK and spoke about his own battle with prostate cancer.

He outlined how the money raised by Antrobus Golf Club members will be directed towards the ongoing research for early detection of prostate cancer, which is becoming one of the most common cancers in the UK.
