THIS is the scene of the crash on the M56 that closed the westbound carriageway and caused miles of tailbacks.
The collision involved three cars but thankfully no-one was hurt.
The accident caused miles of congestion and delays and happened shortly after midday on Saturday.
An air ambulance, firefighters, paramedics and national highways attended the incident which happened in the roadworks area between junction 6 at Hale Road and junction 7, the A557 Chester Road in Bowdon.
Drivers were praised for their co-operation.
A spokesman for Wilmslow Fire Station posted on social media: “Special thanks to all the vehicles that had to ‘part like the Red Sea’ for all the emergency vehicles behind us.
“You made our job a little bit easier.
“Thankfully there were no injuries to any occupiers of the vehicles.
“Be careful on the roads when out and about with the current weather conditions.”
