A MAN has appeared in court after stealing two bottles of spirits from a Northwich bar to fuel his alcoholism.
Charlie Smith, of Lancaster Crescent in Hartford, appeared in Chester Magistrates Court on Friday, January 28, after pleading guilty to taking two bottles of alcohol from Revival Bar and Club in High Street.
The court heard how the 23-year-old entered the bar on November 20 and made his way into an area that was closed to the public.
He took two bottles of spirits and tried to leave, but the stolen items were recovered and police were called.
Smith said he did not remember the incident but admitted it was him when he was shown the CCTV footage.
The court was told he accepts he has a problem with alcohol but would be willing to get help.
Magistrates handed Smith a 12-month community order with 20 rehabilitation activity days.
He must also complete an alcohol treatment programme and carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
