A HGV driver had to be freed from an overturned vehicle in Northwich yesterday evening.
Shortly after 6pm, three fire engines attended Runcorn Road in Bartlington after reports of a crash.
On arrival at the scene, the crews found a HGV had overturned and was blocking the road.
Firefighters helped to release the driver of the HGV who was trapped in the cab, he was then passed to the care of paramedics.
The A49 between Hodge Lane and Barnton Cross A533 was closed for multiple hours for recovery.
The crews used absorbent pads to clear a large amount of diesel that had spilt onto the carriageway.
Crews were detained at the scene for around three hours and 20 minutes.
